Workforce Development and the Federal Economic Recovery Plan: State Responses Recovery Act

At the 2009 Skills Summit, a panel of experts discusses what their states are doing to implement the Recovery Act.

Introduction

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), passed in February 2009, is expected to create or preserve as many as 4 million jobs across a range of industries and sectors, including health care, construction, and energy efficiency and clean energy. To ensure U.S. workers and businesses have the skills they need to participate in our nation’s economic recovery, Congress included more than $4 billion for job training and employment services under the Act.
